CrossFit Games Open. Challenge Info!
The CrossFit Games Open is a six week, worldwide competition in the sport of fitness. It is the first step in the CrossFit Games season beginning March 15, 2011. There is one workout per week, and registered athletes compete to outperform the other competitors. The workouts are varied, and no one knows what they will be from week to week. Everyone gets a weekly score based on their ranking for that workout (low score is better) and weekly scores are added together to get the overall score. At the end of the six weeks, athletes with the lowest scores are the winners and go on to the Regional competitions! If you’re not a member of our gym, but are interested in qualifying for the 2011 CrossFit Games, contact us and we will give you the details regarding qualifying, and using our facility as your qualifying/scoring venue. 2011 CrossFit Games Official Site.
Our version is going to be a bit different to give everyone a chance to compete and have a little fun in the spirit of the Games. Here is a quick overview of the details:
- Every Saturday after the announcement of the workout, we will offer 3 versions (RX, Scale1, Scale2) of each announced workout for male and female competitors. The first workout is Saturday, March 19th at 9:00am and 11:00am.
- Buy in will be $5 each week and the male/female winners of each category take home their pot each week!
- YOU MUST BUY IN BEFORE YOU KNOW WHAT THE WORKOUT IS! Yes … we want you to experience the true spirit of the Games! You won’t have to choose which scaled version you will do until the day of but you will have to buy-in by the Monday evening prior to the Saturday. So, for example, if you want in for Saturday, March 19th … you have to buy-in by close of business on Monday, March 14th.
- To compete, just show up that day assuming you already bought in the Monday prior and get ready to get to it!
- We will announce the winner each Monday to great fanfare!

I think we’re all sick of being cooped up inside the gym all winter, and this week will be this years debut back into running! About time!
