February 2011′s Member of the Month is Stephanie Hoffmeyer! Stephanie has had a fun loving and motivating spirit with us since the day she walked through the door. She has shown huge progress in all aspects of her fitness, and has been progressively scaling-up on all of her workouts! She’s a consistent attendee of our Olympic Weightlifting classes, and has expressed the desire to compete in this extremely technical sport later this year. We all look forward to what the future brings for Stephanie as she continues to build her strengths and develop her weaknesses into a very motivated and well rounded athlete!
Favorite skill: Wallballs
Most improved skill: Pull-ups
Favorite WOD: Anything on Saturday – The Team workouts. I like the planning and strategy involved.
Least favorite WOD: I never met a WOD I didn’t like less than the last…especially ones with Ring Dips.
Favorite lift: Snatch or Deadlift. I can’t pick!
Least favorite lift: Overhead Press
Primary motivation in doing CF: Since I rolled outta the womb, I’ve had endless energy. At four years old, my mother thought soccer would wear me out and, I’m guessing, keep her sane. It only developed an athletic habit extending into my 30′s (I mean early 20′s, wink). Along the way, competition became my drug of choice. CrossFit is my dealer.
Definition of success: Work hard, then work harder. Get better, then be the best. DO IT!!
Long term goal for CrossFit, or outside of CrossFit: I would like to do 4 out of 5 WODs Rx’d or better. I’d also like to learn patience with myself.
Three words that describe how you feel during/after a WOD: Frustrated, Lucky and Hungry.
Favorite outcome of participating in CF (gaining friendships, strength, muscle, etc.?): My frame of mind has completely changed from paying attention to the number on the scale to paying attention to the number of reps in a WOD, the number of lbs on the barbell and the number of seconds I’ll try to shave off next time. The Universe opened a door for me by bringing CrossFit into my life. When I chose to walk through it, I gained such camaraderie. I am inspired daily by the kindness, the honesty, the thoughtfulness, the outreach, the respect, the competition, the goofiness, the intelligence, the vulnerability, the venerability, and the…..”Quan” of this group of people. When you have something as unique as this, you just don’t let go. Thank you all for being you!!
